Country Living

You just never know what I’ll be up to around here. I could be quilting one day and building a barn the next. I just love living on our 10 acres with our heapin’ mess of critters.

Down Home Cooking

Cooking is really the first social networking activity humans ever learned. I love simple, good tasting, home cooked food (if it’s healthy that’s a perk!). Pull up a stool to the counter and sip some coffee while we whip up some supper together.

Family Life

Family is what life is all about. No one is going to leave this earth and wish they had spent more time at work. Some simple things to enhance your family life. “Try it, you’ll like it.”

The Moxie Mom

One of the joys of my life is getting to be a stay-at-home mom. I am so blessed to have a husband who supports me in this endeavor of raising our children. We have fun with homeschooling, 4-H, church, our farm/ranch/zoo and love living in Texas.

WordPress

My favorite blogging platform is WordPress.org. There are just so many possibilities. Want some “how-to” in layman’s terms? See some of my favorite tips, tweaks, plugins and themes that WordPress has to offer while avoiding some pitfalls.

FREE Homeschool State Fair of Texas Tickets

Submitted by Wendy Merritt on Thursday, 30 April 20093 Comments

Just sharing some love with all my hard working Texas homeschool parents. Now is the time to order your FREE homeschool State Fair of Texas tickets.

2009 Home School Ticket Request Guidelines

All requests must be made in writing. No requests made by phone or e-mail will be accepted.

The program is for Kindergarten thru 12th grade beginning with 5 year olds – no Pre-K. They do not have a ticket program for children younger than 5.

The program is for families living within a 100 mile radius of the State Fair of Texas Fairgrounds.

Each family must submit individually to avoid duplicate requests.  We do not accept requests from home school groups or associations.

Please submit your request on school letterhead, if you have it (This is a great time for you to create a logo for your homeschool and create your own letterhead. This came in handy several times over our homeschooling career and especially at graduation. Make is a family project and vote on the best one.).  If not, any paper/stationery is fine, just make sure to include your name and address in your letter.

Include the ages and grade levels of each student. Name of student is not necessary. Requests without this information will be returned unfilled.

We can send one teacher ticket per family. If you would like a teacher ticket, please include your request in your letter.

Include a daytime phone number where we can reach you in case you have left out any information.

Include a business size stamped envelope. Please DO NOT address the envelope in any way as we will print address labels. The envelope must be business size because of the length of the tickets.

All requests must be POSTMARKED AND COMPLETE by the deadline date of Friday, May 29, 2009. Incomplete requests and requests arriving after this date will be returned unfilled.

Mail your request to:

  • I was here for the state fair last year but didn’t go. I moved to the DFW area in July but didn’t go to the fair. I heard it is exciting so maybe I will make it out this year.

The State Fair is a blast! You have to ride the ferris wheel it is so fun! Every year they come out with a couple of crazy food items that you just have to taste. For my family no State Fair of Texas is complete without a corn dog, Texas twister fries, a funnel cake and round out the day with some family karaoke. Man, I can’t wait for October to get here!

    Blessings,
    Wendy
