Meet Wendy

This is me!Hey, this is Wendy Merritt. I am a full-time mother, homeschool mom, country gal and Internet Marketer. The Moxie Mom Blog is where I can share things I love, things I learn, trends, creative ideas and personal reviews…

Let me first start off with a confession: I am addicted to instruction manuals! There I said it! Now we can move on. Seriously, I just love to figure out how things work, how to fix something or how to tweak something to make it better. Most times “necessity is the mother of invention” but I always enjoy the journey.

The Moxie Mom Blog is updated weekly (or whenever something spectacular happens and I will just bust if I don’t let it out) with some new computer thing I learned, a gadget we just can’t live without, a bizarre occurrence at the Merritt ranch, a new or old down home cooking recipe that you just have to try, a juicy tidbit of info that just might encourage you back to that Moxie attitude, a new social networking fad or something phenomenal with WordPress that I just can’t stand to not share with you.

A note from Wendy…

Welcome to The Moxie Mom Blog! If there is something specific you are looking for, you can use the search box at the top right of the page, or browse the category topics towards the lower right in the sidebar. If I can help you, feel free to contact me by using the Contact Me page. Do you have something you would like to know how to do? Send me a message and let me know how I can be of assistance.

I am gearing up a podcast that will be every week on Thursdays so be sure to join us when we kick it off. I will do a Q&A time for questions that are sent via the Contact Me page. It’s a great opportunity to just hang out and get help with whatever how-to question you have.

About me…

I was born in Kenitra, Morocco, Africa a while ago. I guess that makes me a caucasian, African American. I am a Navy brat, a preacher kid brat and sometimes a brat all on my own :) I am the oldest of seven siblings…yes, I said 7! I absolutely love my big family. I am the oldest at 40 and the youngest is 11…that means I will be an empty nester before my MOTHER. LOL

I accepted Jesus as my Savior when I was in the first grade. My Sunday School teacher said if you prayed for anything he would give you the desires of your heart. In my child’s mind, my parents were arguing and they needed God to fix them before they got a divorce. Well, it worked. They are still married after 41 years! But bigger than that my family went on to have a renewed relationship with Jesus Christ and my father became a music minister, then associate pastor and finally a pastor. God is good.

Bryan and Wendy Wedding 1987I met Bryan, my husband, in Duncanville High School in band. He played the tuba and I played the flute. I knew from the moment I saw him that we would get married. He was just that hot! I just had to wait a while for his girlfriend and him to figure it out! LOL He did and in 1987 I married my high school sweetheart. I have been blessed with him for 20 years :*

In 2003 my life was appearing to spiral out of control with the diagnosis of terminal cancer in my beloved mother-in-law, the possibility of foreclosure on our home, moving to an apartment meant parting with our pet children (2 dogs and 3 cats) and just life in general. I had my first panic attack on a car trip in February 2003. This single event would send me on a three year journey of healing and leave me with a small emotional scar to remind me that only God is in control. Those three years were both the best and the worst of my life.

We have been blessed with two beautiful daughters. It has been wonderful to stay at home and raise our children plus homeschooling. Sigh, they grow up so fast. We have experienced so much together. All the little moments are what being a parent is all about. Teaching them how to fly, loving them through the process and then releasing them to do what you taught them to do.

Some of our hobby farm crewI cannot live without reading my Bible, coffee, 6 dogs, 16 cats, singing, quilting, HIPPOS (my favorite animal), YouTube, Twitter and my hobby farm (2 mini donkeys, 1 steer (that thinks he’s a puppy), rabbit, 16 cats, 6 dogs, hedgehog, fish and at the moment 4 bottle feeding kittens who just learned how to climb their gate :) You just never know what kind of critters we’ll have around here.

There is nothing more exciting than mentoring someone. There is no drug that can compare to the high of being a part of seeing someone else achieve a goal or solve a problem.

My deepest wish is that something on this blog inspires you, gives you resolution to something or just gives your face something to smile about.

About My TopSpots…

TopSpots is a cool widget that I recently installed. I have had several readers request a place to place their links. This new widget allows you to “share some love”, and in exchange you receive the top placement on my TopSpots widget with the link & blurb of your choice. You’ll find it in the right sidebar. This is a great way to support The Moxie Mom Blog, and get some inexpensive targeted exposure at the same time .

If you don’t yet have a website or a link of your own so that you can take advantage of the TopSpots widget, but would like to “share some love”, you may send a couple of dollars via PayPal to wendy.merritt-AT-imagine-believe-achieve.com.

Disclosure and other fun stuff…

The Moxie Mom Blog contains my honest opinion. To date I have not done any paid reviews on this site. Even if I had I would not risk losing you as a reader by promoting anything that I wouldn’t use myself. Affiliate links are simply a way for me to make a career in writing articles on several topics that I am deeply passionate about, and doing it at no cost to my readers.

If you have any questions about The Moxie Mom Blog, please call, comment or send an email. I can’t wait to get to know you better!

Like a game of hide-n-seek – come find me…
