How to: 28 Days to an Awesome Blog
Day 3 – CPanel and Changing DNS Settings
- In Day 1 we covered your keyword research
- In Day 2 Purchasing Your Domain
- Today we’re going to set up your cpanel and change the DNS settings for the domain we now own
- Please use the url www.domainhosting.themoxiemomblog.com
- Click on the “Hosting, Order Now” button
- Use the “I will use My Existing Domain and update My Nameservers only”, enter the existing domain, and click “Next”
- The Hatchling account gets you 1 domain for $4.95/month, the Baby gives you unlimited domains for $7.95/month. Choose your plan and click “Continue”
- Use Coupon: HEART for 20% discount on sign up. Expires: March 1, 2009. Click on “Calculate Totals”
- Continue through the checkout process
- Visit www.yourdomain/cpanel to log in to your account
- Enter the information you set up with your account to get logged in
- On the left side of the screen notice the “Website Traffic” box which will show you what domains information you are viewing. Below this see the “Account Information” box which contains your Name Servers
- Open a new tab or browser window
- Log in to your GoDaddy account we created in yesterday’s video
- Hover over “Domains” and click on “My Domains”
- Find your domain and click on it
- In the top green box in the center see “Name Servers:” Click on one of them
- Click on “Custom Nameservers” if not selected
- Go back to HostGator cpanel and copy the first “Name Servers”, paste into the GoDaddy box labeled “Nameserver1:”
- Go back to HostGator cpanel and copy the second “Name Servers”, and paste into the GoDaddy box labeled “Nameserver 2:”
- Click “OK”
- This can take up to 24 hours to propogate
