ValidRank Free Backlink Checker Tool
In light of Google constantly changing the way it calculates page ranking, I really would not encourage a lot of reciprocal linking. Reciprocal linking means that you trade a link to get a link to ensure mutual traffic. Some might be free and some might require payment. This method was used in the past and caused Google to make a change in the way it calculated page ranking. Still a viable method for gaining backlinks just don’t make it your primary method of trying to gain search engine ranking.
Backlink – In search engine optimization (SEO) terminology a backlink is a hyperlink that links from a wepage back to your own webpage, website or blog. You might also see the called an Inbound Link (IBL).
For a variety of reasons you might want or need to see what other websites are linking to you. The bonus of this tool is that you can also see if those sites linking to you are using a “no follow” tag or not.
There has been much conversation regarding “no follow” linking lately. Here’s the thing about “no follow” links: while you may not be gaining search engine ranking you are gaining visibility. If a spider sees that “no follow” link it will not give as much credence, if any, to it as if that tag was not present.
Spider – A program that automatically fetches web pages. Spiders are used to feed pages to search engines. It’s called a “spider” because it crawls over the web. You might also see this called a webcrawler.
However, and this is BIG however, people-humans-homo sapians do not care if it is a “no follow” link. If they see it they are going to click on it. While this is not assisting you in your rankings this is getting you traffic.
The ValidRank site is a free backlink checker tool that makes it easy to:- See if someone is linking to you
- Check if the backlink is a “no follow”
- What is the PageRank of the backlinking site
PageRank – PR is a link analysis algorithm used by Google for its search engine. It assigns numerical weighting to each element of a hyperlinked set of documents for the purpose of measuring its importance within the set.
